Established a voice for growers identifying and addressing issues and threats to profitability
Updates e-mailed monthly to keep members current on industry and government issues
Liaison to government assuring that public officials hear the grower's views
Advocate for the preservation of agricultural product sales exemption in the new Michigan Business Tax
Channeled MSU's Project GREEEN research and education to grower topics: energy efficiency and sources, crop time, post-harvest quality enhancement, including:
 
Energy Efficiency and Carbon Dioxide Emissions in Michigan Greenhouse Operations
 
Photoperiodic Lighting Strategies to Accelerate Development of Floriculture Crops
 
Understanding Risks Associated with Quarantine Pests in the Floriculture Industry
 
Improving the Energy Efficiency of Greenhouse Crop Production in Michigan
 
Reducing Production Time to Increase Profitability of the Michigan Greenhouse Industry
Issues we are addressing
Continue to monitor water-use and energy regulation; provide industry input for consideration by legislators
Support the U.S. Farm Bureau's immigration policy and the proposed national Ag Jobs bill
Actively participate in the new State Invasive Pests Work Group
Support Michigan Agriculture Statistics Service funding of floriculture industry statistics
Advocate for research projects in the growers' interest, such as cost of crop losses due to quarantines and publicly ordered plant destruction
Preserve state support for industry public programs (MSUE, MAES, and MDA)
Increase the political influence of Michigan's floriculture industry by increasing policy makers' awareness of floriculture's importance to Michigan's economy
Continue to advocate for grower interests in taxation, eminent domain, pesticide registration, labor, safety, APHIS policies, and other issues identified by YOU and other MFGC members
